Pocket Watch-Wristwatch Conversion
"Zenith was founded in 1865 by George Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, a Swiss hotbed of watchmaking. It's still around today, making it one of the oldest continuing watchmakers." -NAWCC Member
A truly unique timepiece! This is an uncommon pocket watch converted to a wristwatch, and most interestingly, the crown is centered at 3 o'clock, just as it would be for a wristwatch, but not for a pocket watch, which would be at 12 o'clock. Also, the sub second is at 9 o'clock- rare indeed for any watch style!
The enameled dial is a lovely deep hunter green featuring a colorful roulette motif, marked "Zenith Le Casino De Mone Carlo" with original gold leaf-style hands. Red, yellow, black, green, white and gold are the colors of the roulette motif. The white hour marks are fancy Breguet-style with white dot minute marks. The sub second hand is also white with a gold stick hand. This dial is also a 24-hour dial! Look closely and you will see the faint, orange Breguet numerals of 13 through 24 listed above the larger 1 through 12 numerals.
The robust, 49 mm case is double hinged, and features the original movement, covered by a replaced dome plastic crystal. The inside of the case back is signed with the Zenith name and star logo, Metal Blanc Garanti, 5281644 (twice), P, and GRAND PRIX PARIS 1900. The case material is Metal Blanc Garanti which translates to Guarantee White Metal, likely French silver plate.
The movement does not provide a lot of information, and is simply marked Zenith and 7046624. However, the serial number 7046624 did allow us to accurately date this unique watch to 1906. Through some research we discovered that Zenith received a gold medal for its technological advancements at the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition (Paris World Fair), and therefore, the dust covers of special pocket watch models, and this pocket watch conversion, were signed Grand Prix Paris 1900 as a commemoration to their achievement.
This pocket watch-wristwatch conversion is a manual-winding watch with an original Swiss-made Zenith open-faced movement. The movement runs beautifully and sounds lovely!
It is finished with a very eye-catching burnt sienna colored 22 mm leather strap that is marked Bros Cvcrro A Mano with a shiny silver buckle.
This is truly a special antique pocket watch-wristwatch conversion with a mysterious intrigue! It is unique in that we are unable to find another timepiece exactly like this. This is likely the only piece like this. It is in perfect running condition and great physical condition. It will be an excellent collection piece to enjoy, discuss, and pass on through generations of family or as a special gift.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust lighting when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
It will be carefully packed.
